It was a terrible night on Monday night for the Detroit Tigers as they lost to the Kansas City Royals by the score of 6-2. Yeah the Tigers lost to the Royals at home. You are probably like me at this point and you are just asking yourself is this season over yet?

Zach Miner took the loss after giving up six hits and four runs in six innings of action. Miner is now 8-5 on the season. Relief pitcher Bobby Seay gave up three more hits and two runs. Seay had another bad outing, what else would you expect at this point in this season?

Magglio Ordonez and Jeff Larish had the two rbi’s for the Tigers. Ordonez a rbi sac fly and Larish a rbi single.

The Tigers will try to even up the series on Tuesday. – Tigers Blog

It was a great offensive showing for the Detroit Tigers on Monday night as they pounded out twelve hits and scored 13 runs in a 14-8 victory over the Oakland Athletics. It was a great way for the Tigers to kick off the series against the A’s.

Finally the offense came around that everyone thought we would see all season long. Gary Sheffield hit two home runs and finished the game with five rbi’s. Miguel Cabrera hit a home run as well and finished the game with three rbi. Magglio Ordonez was right behind Cabrera with a home run of his own and two rbi’s. Mike Hessman also tacked on a home run for the hot hitting Tigers. Brandon Inge added two rbi of his own while Edgar Renteria also had a rbi.

It was a good thing the Tigers hit some many home runs and finished with four runs because the starting pitcher really didn’t throw the ball that good at all. Zach Miner was tagged for 11 hits and eight runs in only 4 1/3 innings. The Tigers bullpen did a good job of holding the A’s to the eight runs to secure the Tigers victory.

The Detroit Tigers used a big 10 run spot in the eighth inning as the exploded to beat the Kansas City Royals by the score of 19-4. Let’s all hope the Tigers didn’t use up all their offense on Monday evening as they still have two more games against the Royals in Kansas City. However, scoring 19 runs is huge for the team!

Miguel Cabrera led the team with six rbi while Matt Joyce was right behind him with five rbi. Gary Sheffield had three rbi, Carlos Guillen two rbi, and Ivan Rodriguez chipped in with one rbi each. Sheffield had a three run home run and Joyce had a two run shot in the game.

Starting pitcher Zach Miner tossed six shutout innings to pick up the win and improve to 4-3 on the season. Freddy Dolsi did have some problems in the seventh inning as he allowed four hits and four runs to score. Aquilino Lopez tossed the final two innings of the game without allowing a run to score. So besides the four run eighth inning, the Tigers pitchers did a pretty good job.

Kenny Rogers will take the mound for the Tigers on Tuesday night as they hope to go up 2-0 in the three game series. Tigers Blog

Marcus Thames hit a home run in the fifth straight game and the Detroit Tigers defeated the San Francisco Giants 5-1 on Tuesday evening. It took two runs in the eighth inning and two extra insurance runs in the ninth inning for the Tigers to finally pull away from the Giants.

Besides Thames going deep, Ryan Raburn also hit a pitch hit solo home run in the game. Thames, Raburn, Placido Polanco, Carlos Guillen, and Jeff Larish all had one rbi each in the game for the Tigers.

It was Kenny Rogers getting the victory for the Tigers on the mound. Rogers is now 5-4 after throwing seven inning and only giving up five hits and one run. Zach Miner pitched a scoreless eighth inning before Todd Jones gave up three hits in the ninth inning but was finally able to end the game.

The Tigers have now won seven of their last eight games and have a 33-38 record as they try to get back to the .500 mark.

Miguel Cabrera led the Tigers at the plate as he went 2-4 with three RBI. Cabrera had a RBI triple in the third inning and then a two run home run in the seventh inning. Magglio Ordonez went 3-5 with two RBI in the game. Curtis Granderson also had a RBI single in the third inning.

Nate Robinson pitched 5.2 innings to pick up the win for the Tigers. Robinson gave up seven runs and four hits including a three run home run in the first inning to the Yankees, but pitched good enough to still pick up the win. Robinson is now on the season.

Bobby Seay and Zach Miner closed the door on the Yankees to finish the game.

The Detroit Tigers defeated the New York Mets in the first spring training major league baseball game of 2008. The Tigers used a four spot in the 7th inning for their big inning as they went on to beat the Mets 4-2.

Magglio Ordonez’s infield single leading off the second inning was Detroit’s only hit through the first six innings, until Mike Hessman tripled off the center-field fence with one out in the seventh. Marcus Thames doubled him in, then Wilkin Ramirez’s two-run single put the Tigers ahead. Brandon Inge, who replaced Curtis Granderson in center field, had an RBI single and a walk.

Jeremy Bonderman pitched two innings for the Tigers pretty much just throwing fastballs and gave up two runs on four hits. Location is the big thing that the pitchers are trying to find at this point in spring training. That is why you didn’t see Bonderman throwing any of his offspeed pitches today.

Jason Grilli and Zach Miner each threw two innings of scoreless ball while Larrison, Byrdak, and Bautista, each threw one inning of scoreless baseball. Larrison picked up the win as well.

The Tigers spring training record now stands at 1-0.
