The Detroit Tigers finished off a three game sweep of the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday afternoon with a 7-1 victory.  The Tigers pretty much dominated all three games of the series and are now 52-49 on the season.  The Tigers are getting on a roll and I think they are going to show us some great things in the second half of the season.

Armando Galarraga improved to 8-4 on the season as he tossed seven innings to pick up the win.  Galarrage only gave up three hits and one run while striking out seven Royal batters.  Galarraga didn’t give up the one run until the seventh inning when Jose Guillen had a rbi single.

Casey Fossum tossed the 9th inning and did not allow a run to score even though he did allow one hit.  Todd Jones then came in to finish off the Royals in the 9th inning.

Miguel Cabrera had three rbi for the Tigers at the plate as he had another good day.  Magglio Ordonez was right behind him as he finished the game with two rbi.  Edgar Renteria also tacked on a rbi in the game as well.  Good effort by the offense!

Now the Tigers will be off on Thursday and then they will begin a weekend series against the Chicago White Sox.  It will be a huge series against the White Sox.

The Detroit Tigers played a terrible game on Wednesday afternoon as they were shut out by the Minnesota Twins by the score of 7-0.  The pitching staff sucked and so did the offense.  The offense was only able to record five hits in the game and struggled all game long.  I was really thinking the Tigers could take two our of three from the red hot Twins but boy was I wrong.

Eddie Bonine lost his first game of the year and is now 2-1.  Bonine only lasted 2 2/3 innings as he gave up seven hits and allowed five runs to score.  I should mention that only two of those five runs were actually earned however.

Casey Fossum pitched 4 1/3 innings after Bonine left the game and he didn’t have much luck either.  Fossum gave up two more runs on four hits.  Fernando Rodney was finally able to pitch a scoreless inning in the eighth but it was a little to late to stop the bleeding.

Placido Polanco went 2-4 at the plate, but only three other players had a hit in the game as they Twins were shut out.  One walk compared to 6 strike outs and leaving 14 runners on base sure didn’t help out the offense that is for sure.

The Tigers will now play the Seattle Mariners in a four game weekend series.  This should be a series that the Tigers should went atleast three of four games in my opinion.

The Detroit Tigers scored four unanswered runs and beat the Minnesota Twins by the score of 5-4 on Monday night.  The Tigers scored two runs in the seventh inning and two more in the eighth inning to come from behind and steal the victory.  Nice come from behind win for the Tigers over a very hot Twins team that had been playing some very good baseball the past few weeks.

Placido Polanco and Carlos Guillen both had rbi singles in the seventh inning and then pitch hitter Matt Joyce had a rbi triple and Curtis Granderson had a rbi single in the eighth inning as the Twins completed their come back.

Armando Galarraga pitched the first six innings of the game and gave up nine hits and four runs. Only three of the four runs were earned.  Galarraga struck out three batters and only walked one to get to the no decision in the game.  Casey Fossum pitched 1 1/3 innings to get the win and improve his record to 1-0.  Joel Zumaya pitched the final five outs of the game to record his first save of the season.  Zumaya did have runners on first and second with one out in the ninth inning but was able to get out of the jam.

Overall it was a good come from behind win for the Tigers.  They will now try to go up 2-0 as they play again on Tuesday night.

The Detroit Tigers didn’t start off their three games series with the St. Louis Cardinals how they wanted as they lost 8-4 on Tuesday evening.  Tigers starting pitcher Kenny Rogers was roughed up for five runs in 5 1/3 innings.  Rogers took the loss for the Tigers and is now 5-5 on the season with a 4-60 era.

Rogers wasn’t the only pitcher to suck however as Freddy Dolsi gave up four hits and three runs in only one inning of action.  Finally Casey Fossum and Fernando Rodney were able to finish up the game without letting any more runs score.

All four of the Tigers runs came via the home run.  Gary Sheffield had a two run home run and then Ivan Rodriguez and Miguel Cabrera connected for solo home runs.  There just wasn’t enough runners on base to make up the four run difference in the game.

So will the Tigers win on Wednesday?  I doubt it they way they are playing compared to the Cardinals who have been playing some very good baseball.

Nothing changed for the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday afternoon as they lost to the Oakland Athletics once again.  This time it was by the score of 10-2 as the Tigers were out played and out matched in the game.  The Tigers dropped all three games and swere swept by the A’s in the series.

Nate Robertson fell to 3-6 on the season as he took the loss in the game.  Giving up eight hits, five runs, and three walks just didn’t get it done for Robertson who threw 6 1/3 innings.  The Tigers bullpen wasn’t any better however as they gave up another five runs in the game.

Freddy Dolsi got right back on the mound after last nights outing and gave up one run while only recording one out in the game.  Casey Fossum had the worst outing however as he gave up four runs without even recording an out!  Fossum, your old, you suck, please retire!  Aquilino Lopez pitched the final 1 1/3 innings and gave up three hits but zero runs.

Both of the Tigers runs came in the sixth inning as Carlos Guillen and Magglio Ordonez both recorded an rbi.  Guillen had a rbi single that scored Ryan Raburn and Ordonez was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded that scored Curtis Granderson.

The Tigers will have a much needed off day on Thursday and then will get back to playing baseball on Friday when they begin a series with the Clevleand Indians.
