Freddy Dolsi gave up a bases loaded infield single to Jack Cust in the 11th inning and the Detroit Tigers lost to the Oakland Athletics by the score of 5-4.  With two outs in the 11th, it appeared the Tigers were going to get out of the jam except Dolsi was slow getting over cover first base, well I should say he never even made it there and the A’s came away with the victory.

Bobby Seay actually took the loss as he gave up a lead off single in the 11th inning and that was the winning run that scored.  Dontrelle Willis took the no decision after throwing four innings and allowing two hits and no runs.  The Tigers are going to be very cautious with Willis as he regains arm strength to be come a starter once again.

Armando Galarraga gave up three runs after he came into the game when Willis exited.  Casey Fossum then was called upon but he also gave up a run as the Tigers bullpen just didn’t get the job done.

Curtis Granderson, Placido Polanco, Miguel Cabrera, and Carlos Guillen all had a rbi in the game for the Tigers.  They just weren’t able to get that one or two big runs at the end of the game to come away with a victory.

It was a low scoring game on Monday night as the Detroit Tigers fell to the Oakland Athletics by the score of 3-2.  A Bobby Crosby rbi single in the ninth inning off of Francisco Cruceta gave the A’s the win.

Cruceta took the loss and is now 0-3 on the season.  Starting Tigers pitcher Kenny Rogers piched seven innings and gave up six hits and two runs.  Cruceta just let his team down, and hopefully he will come out better next time and throw the ball better and get the job done.  The Tigers need to start winning these close ballgames if they want to get back into contention.

Both of the Tigers runs came in the sixth inning.  Curtis Granderson had a solo home run and then Jeff Larish had a rbi single that scored Carlos Guillen.  The Tigers offense only had five hits in the game as they struggled against Rich Harden and then the Athletics bullpen.

The Detroit Tigers hit four home runs as they defeated the Seattle Mariners by the score of 12-8.  The four home runs came off the bats of Magglio Ordonez, Edgar Renteria, Curtis Granderson, and Carlos Guillen.

Renteria led the Tigers with five rbi in the game while Granderson had three rbi and Guillen had two rbi.  Placido Palanco and Ordonez finished the game with one rbi each.

Justin Verlander finally picked up another win as he improved his record to 2-7 on the season.  Verlander pitched six innings and gave up up four hits and one run.  The Tigers bullpen pitched terrible in relief of Verland however.

Aquilino Lopez gave up three runs while Clay Rapada gave up four runs in relief.  Todd Jones however was able to get the last two outs of the game to secure his seventh save of the season.

The Detroit Tigers scored two runs early in the game but then were not able to push across another run in the game as they went onto lose to the Kansas City Royals by the score of 3-2.  The Tigers were much more less dead after the second inning and that allowed the Royals to come back and win the game.

Starting pitcher Nate Robinson three seven innings and allowed ten hits and two runs.  He took the no decision from the game as Francisco Cruceta took the loss after allowing a run in the eighth inning on a infield single.

The Tigers got rbi’s from Carlos Guillen and Matt Joyce in the game.  Guillen had a rbi single in the first inning and then Joyce had a solo home run in the second inning.

The Tigers continue to struggle this season.  I thought they would come out things and start winning games but it sure looks like I was wrong about that.  What do you think Tigers fans?  Are they going to turn things around before it is too late? Or is too late already?

The Detroit Tigers scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to beat the Boston Red Sox and their closer Jonathan Papelbon by the score of 10-9.  Curtis Granderson had a RBI groundout and Placido Palanco had the game winning hit in the ninth inning for the Tigers.

The Tigers were led by Palanco who finished the game with three RBI.  Ivan Rodriguez wasn’t too far behind as he had two rbi in the game.  Carlos Guillen, Magglio Ordonez, Gary Sheffield, Matt Joyce, and Granderson all had one rbi in the game.

Todd Jones got the win for the Tigers as he pitched the ninth inning.  Jones is now 1-0 on the season.

Tigers starting pitcher Armando Galarraga was pulled out of the game after 5 1/3 innings as he gave up seven hits and five runs.  Zach Miner and Francisco Cruceta both gave up two runs as they pitched in relief.

It wasn’t the best outing by the Tigers pitchers that is for sure, they were lucky that the offense put up 10 runs on the scoreboard and pulled out the win.  We will have to see if this win will give them any momentum to carry forward into the next series.

Wow, what a first win at home for the Detroit Tigers!  The Tigers came back and scored six runs in the bottom of the 8th inning as they went on to defeat the Minnesota Twins by the score of 11-9.  Maybe this win will give the Tigers a little spark and they will play some better baseball.

Ivan Rodriguez and Carlos Guillen both had three RBI’s for the Tigers.  Plácido Polanco, Magglio Ordonez, Miguel Cabrera, Edgar Renteria, and Jacque Jones all chipped in with one RBI each.  That is production up and down the lineup, one thing the Tigers haven’t had all season long.

Francis Beltran picked up the win for the Tigers as he pitched in relief.  Todd Jones picked up the save which was his second of the season.  Starting pitcher Jeremy Bonderman pitched 6.1 innings and allowed eight hits and four earned runs.  Not the start that Bonderman was hoping for.

It was nice to see the Tigers come back and pick up the win.  I really think this win will give them some momentum and they will have a great week of baseball!

The Detroit Tigers have finally won a game!  The Tigers defeated the Red Sox 7-2 to pick up their first victory of 2008.  Finally the offense showed up for the Tigers and the pitching wasn’t too bad either.

Marcus Thames and Carlos Guillen homered, Edgar Renteria had three hits and Ivan Rodriguez got the 2,500th hit of his career.

A big 4th inning where the Tigers scored four runs put them in the lead and they never looked back.  They did add two runs in the 8th inning and one run in the 9th inning for insurance even though they didn’t end up needed them.

Jeremy Bonderman pitched  five innings to pick up the win.  Bonderman was a little wild as he gave up give hits and four walks.   Four Tigers relief pitchers pitched the final four innings without allowing a run.  That is a different bullpen that pitched tonight then the ones that played the first seven games of the year.

Detroit Tigers manager Jim Leyland has released his batting order that he plans on using during the 2008 season.  One suprise you will probably see is Miguel Cabrera batting in the 5th spot, but when you have a stacked offense, you are going to have a few suprises like that.

Leyland will use a lineup of: CF Curtis Granderson, 2B Placido Polanco, DH Gary Sheffield, RF Magglio Ordonez, 3B Miguel Cabrera, 1B Carlos Guillen, SS Edgar Renteria, C Ivan Rodriguez and LF Jacque Jones. Marcus Thames is expected to start over Jones versus lefties.
