In his day, Sheffield was one the best hitters in the majors. But his day has past lets move on. I am just sorry we paid so high a price for his tenure. Guillen would be an ideal DH, although I hate the DH rule……Guillen could bat third or sixth. The speedy new guy, Josh Anderson is the perfect leadoff hitter. Steady, solid, good hit & run man, Polanco bats second.( I can not understand why Leyland does not hit & run ever)…Guillen or Granderson bat third. The franchise player, Cabrera would sit in the clean-up spot..The hit man, the amazing Ordonez would bat fifth. Thames, Thomas or Guillen would alternate batting sixth. Laird or Thames number 7. Inge would bat 8 and Everett would bring up the tail end and bat 9.
On the mound, I like Verlander, as number 1, followed by impressive Jackson as number 2, although I would like a southpaw, Willis would have been ideal but he needs paxil. Bonderman has problems too..Why does the Detroit pitchers all have anxiety disorders and suffer from a lack of confidence? (LEYLAND Pulls his pitchers too early!) They can bearly throw past the fifth inning. They are looking in the dug-out for Leyland to pull the plug. Mickey Lolich did 300 innings a year! Galarraga replaces injury prone Bonderman. Robertson goes fourth or fifth in the rotation if he is not traded. We need more pitchers! I like Rincon in the bullpen..I believe he has not allowed a run in ST..
