It was a great offensive showing for the Detroit Tigers on Monday night as they pounded out twelve hits and scored 13 runs in a 14-8 victory over the Oakland Athletics. It was a great way for the Tigers to kick off the series against the A’s.

Finally the offense came around that everyone thought we would see all season long. Gary Sheffield hit two home runs and finished the game with five rbi’s. Miguel Cabrera hit a home run as well and finished the game with three rbi. Magglio Ordonez was right behind Cabrera with a home run of his own and two rbi’s. Mike Hessman also tacked on a home run for the hot hitting Tigers. Brandon Inge added two rbi of his own while Edgar Renteria also had a rbi.

It was a good thing the Tigers hit some many home runs and finished with four runs because the starting pitcher really didn’t throw the ball that good at all. Zach Miner was tagged for 11 hits and eight runs in only 4 1/3 innings. The Tigers bullpen did a good job of holding the A’s to the eight runs to secure the Tigers victory.

The Detroit Tigers were hammered by the Los Angeles Angels on Thursday afternoon by the score of 7-1. The two teams were finishing up a four game series that seen the Angels take three out of four games against the Tigers. No wonder why they have one of the best records in the major leagues.

Kenny Rogers took the loss for the Tigers after giving up eight hits and six runs in just two innings of action. Rogers was hit very hard as the he gave up plenty of singles and doubles that scored runs for the Angels. Rogers now has a 9-13 record on the season. Nate Robertson also gave up a run in relief.

The only run the Tigers were able to score was in the eighth inning when Curtis Granderson hit a solo home run off Ervin Santana. That was the one run for the Tigers who stranded 17 runners on base and struck out 11 times.

Justin Verlander once again struggled and the Detroit Tiger lost once again. This time Verlander lost to the Cleveland Indians by the score of 9-5. Verlander gave up seven hits and five runs in six innings of action. His record is now a terrible 10-14 on the season.

Verlander wasn’t the only Tigers pitcher to throw the ball badly however. Gary Glover and Bobby Seay both gave up two runs in one inning of action. They didn’t help out one bit as they let the Indians extend there lead too far. Kyle Farnsworth allowed two hits but didn’t allow a run to cross the plate.

Magglio Ordonez made things interesting in the ninth inning when he hit a two run home run which was his 16th of the season. Ordonez also had a rbi double in the seventh inning. Curtis Granderson had a solo home run of his own and also a rbi single as he finished with two rbi. Brandon Inge and Ramon Santiago both tried to help out with an rbi each of their own but the Tigers still fell two runs short.

The Detroit Tigers lost in the tenth inning to the Cleveland Indians on Monday night as Gary Glover gave up a solo home run to Franklin Guiterrez. What a terrible way to lose a close game that the Tigers had a good shot at winning.

Glover took the loss and is now 1-3 on the year. Tigers starting pitcher Armando Galarraga lasted seven innings as he gave up eight hits and three runs to get the no decision. Galarraga gave up two home runs (both solo shots to Grady Sizemore) in the game and also struck out four while walking three.

Marcus Thames and Edgar Renteria both hit solo home runs for the Tigers. The third Tigers run came in the seventh inning when Brandon Inge reached on an infield single Matt Joyce scored. The Tigers left 16 runners on base and if they would have just came up with one big hit, they would have won this game.

So are Tigers fans just ready for this season to get over with?

The Detroit Tigers had an embarrassing game on Wednesday night as they were blown out by the Texas Rangers 9-1. The Tigers potent offense was only able to come up with six hits and one run down in hot Texas where the ball usually flies all over the ballpark.

The one run that the Tigers did get came in the fourth inning when Miguel Cabrera doubled and Ramon Santiago scored. That was it for the Tigers who struggled against Kevin Millwood who tossed a complete game for the Rangers.

Nate Robertson was hit hard and often as he gave up eight hits and eight runs in only 3 2/3 innings. The Rangers played home run derby off of Robertson as they connected on five home runs in the first four innings of the game. The Rangers weren’t done hitting the long ball however as Aquilino Lopez gave up one more in the seventh inning.

All around it was just a terrible game for the Tigers. – Tigers Baseball Blog

The Detroit Tigers were shutout for the first six innings on Monday night but then scored four runs in the seventh and eighth innings to come from behind and beat the Texas Rangers 8-7. With the big victory over the Rangers, the Tigers are now just three games under .500 at 61-64.

The Tigers got the scoring started in the seventh inning when Gary Sheffield hit a two run home run which was then followed by a Brandon Inge rbi single. Curtis Granderson then hit a rbi triple that scored Inge and the Tigers were up 4-3.

Onto the eighth inning where four more Tigers runs would be scored. Edgar Renteria reached base on an error and Sheffield scored on the play. Granderson then had another triple, this time with the bases loaded to score three more runs. Granderson had a huge day at the plate as he finished with four rbi.

Kenny Rogers pitched six innings to get the win. Rogers gave up eight hits and three runs while striking out seven and walking four batters. Kyle Farnsworth was charged with four hits and four runs in the eighth inning when the Rangers scored for runs to make the game very interesting. Fernando Rodney recorded the final out of the eighth inning and then pithced the ninth to pick up his fifth save of the season.

The Detroit Tigers used a big eighth inning where they scored five runs to defeat the visiting Blue Jays by the score of 5-1. There was a ton of fans at the game today and they watched a good ballgame that seen the Tigers avoid the embarassing four game sweep at home. The Tigers are pretty much out of it for the post season unless they go on a big winning streak and win the next 15-16 games. Everyone just has to hang in there for the rest of the season.

In the big eighth inning, it was rbi singles by Miguel Cabrera and Brandon Inge as well as a two run double by Edgar Renteria that plated all five runs for the Tigers. Inge’s single score two runs while Cabrera’s was a one run hit. There wasn’t a whole lot of offense besides the eighth inning so the team is lucky to have come back and won this game.

Armando Galarraga threw his 12th quality start of the season as he pitched eight innings and only gave up six hits and one run. Galarraga struck out six batters and his only mistake was a solo home run to Lyle Overbay. Galarraga is now 11-4 on the season.

Good job by the team to get back in the win column.

The Detroit Tigers held off the Cleveland Indians for a 8-5 victory on Tuesday night.  It was a very good win for the Tigers in Cleveland as the improved to 54-52 record on the season.  Keep on winning and good things are going to happen for this team that is for sure!

The Detroit Tigers finished off a three game sweep of the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday afternoon with a 7-1 victory.  The Tigers pretty much dominated all three games of the series and are now 52-49 on the season.  The Tigers are getting on a roll and I think they are going to show us some great things in the second half of the season.

Armando Galarraga improved to 8-4 on the season as he tossed seven innings to pick up the win.  Galarrage only gave up three hits and one run while striking out seven Royal batters.  Galarraga didn’t give up the one run until the seventh inning when Jose Guillen had a rbi single.

Casey Fossum tossed the 9th inning and did not allow a run to score even though he did allow one hit.  Todd Jones then came in to finish off the Royals in the 9th inning.

Miguel Cabrera had three rbi for the Tigers at the plate as he had another good day.  Magglio Ordonez was right behind him as he finished the game with two rbi.  Edgar Renteria also tacked on a rbi in the game as well.  Good effort by the offense!

Now the Tigers will be off on Thursday and then they will begin a weekend series against the Chicago White Sox.  It will be a huge series against the White Sox.

The Detroit Tigers beat the Kansas City Royals 7-1 on Tuesday night as they beat the Royals for the second straight night.  The game was interrupted in the 7th inning by rain and both teams had to wait 2 hours and 19 minutes before they could play the final couple of innings.

Placido Polanco and Magglio Ordonez both led the team with two rbi each.  Polanco had a solo home run and then a rbi groundout to account for both of his rbi.  Ordonez had two rbi singles in the game for his rbi’s.  Miguel Cabrera, Matt Joyce, and Gary Sheffield all chipped in with one rbi each as well.

Kenny Rogers picked up the win and is now 8-6.  Rogers threw six innings while only giving up four hits and one run.  It was a very good start for Rogers who pitched a great game.  Fernando Rodney pitched two innings after Rogers left the game and struckout four batters while only giving up one hit.  Joel Zumaya pitched a scoreless 9th inning to finish off the Royals.

The Tigers will now go for the three game sweep Wednesday afternoon.  The players more then likely will be a little tired as they will have a short turnaround.  If they can pull off the sweep, it will be the teams fourth straight win!
