The Detroit Tigers have finally won a game!  The Tigers defeated the Red Sox 7-2 to pick up their first victory of 2008.  Finally the offense showed up for the Tigers and the pitching wasn’t too bad either.

Marcus Thames and Carlos Guillen homered, Edgar Renteria had three hits and Ivan Rodriguez got the 2,500th hit of his career.

A big 4th inning where the Tigers scored four runs put them in the lead and they never looked back.  They did add two runs in the 8th inning and one run in the 9th inning for insurance even though they didn’t end up needed them.

Jeremy Bonderman pitched  five innings to pick up the win.  Bonderman was a little wild as he gave up give hits and four walks.   Four Tigers relief pitchers pitched the final four innings without allowing a run.  That is a different bullpen that pitched tonight then the ones that played the first seven games of the year.

The Detroit Tigers remaine winless on the 2008 season as they were beaten by the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday by the score of 5-0.  When will this bleeding stop for the Tigers?  I’m sure all the Tiger fans would have thought it would be done by now, but the Tigers just keep on losing!

Kenny Rogers took the lose today and his record now stands at 0-2.  Rogers was only able to last 4.2 innings as he gave up eight hits and and allowed three runs to score.  Only two of the runs were earned however.

Jason Grilli came in and pitched one inning and allowed two hits and two more earned runs.  Aquilino Lopez then came in and pitched the final 2.1 innings and did not allow a run.

The Tigers or lack there of only accounted for give hits against the Red Sox pitchers.  Dice-K had them off balance most of the game.  Gary Sheffield led the team with two hits.

The Detroit Tigers cannot catch a break right now as they have started the season off with a 0-4 record.  On Friday, the White Sox got the better of the Tigers with a 8-5 victory.

Jason Grilli picked up the loss for the Tigers as the White Sox scored three runs in the 7th inning off of him.  Nate Robertson started the game for the Tigers and lasted five innings while he allowed seven hits and five earned runs.  Definately not the way Robertson wanted to start off the season.

Ivan Rodriguez led the Tigers with two RBI.  Jacque Jones and Clete Thomas chipped in with one RBI apeace.  Edgar Renteria had a terrible day at the plate going 0-5 and leaving right guys on base.  Right there is why the Tigers lost the game..

The Tigers will try to get their first win of the season on Saturday as Dontrelle Willis will make his first start with the Tigers.

The Detroit Tigers have just been swept by the Kansas City Royals.  The Tigers once again couldn’t must any offense as they lost 4-1 on Thursday.

Jeremy Bonderman picked up the loss on the season.  Hell, any pitcher would have lost today the way the Tigers offense was hitting.  The Tigers did have right hits, but c’mon you gotta score some runs with those eight hits.  Especially against the Kansas City Royals!

The Tigers will now play the Chicago White Sox.  The White Sox just picked up their first win of the year after defeating the Cleveland Indians.  Can the Tigers get back on track?

No one was expecting this, but the Detroit Tigers are 0-2 on the season after dropping the first two games of the year to the Kansas City Royals.  The lack of offense really hurt the Tigers today against the Royals.

Edgar Renteria was the only Tigers player to record a hit against the Royals pitchers.  Renteria did finish with three hits in four at bats, but everyone else on the roster stunk it up.  Brian Bannister had them guessing all day long.

Kenny Rogers didn’t pitch too bad, as he did throw six innings giving up give hits and two earned runs.  Rogers struckout four batters while walking one.

Zack Minor came in and allowed another two earned runs in the 8th inning.

The Tigers offense will come back, I have no doubt about that.  Hopefully they can pick up a victory against the Royals tomorrow and move their record to 1-2.
